Kwik Krimes by Otto Penzler

At first sight, I figured this book to be a sort of grown-up Encyclopedia Brown collection, except by different authors with different characters. But it is not, which would be fine if the stories weren't so dissimilar in skill and mood. There are, in balance, many more good stories than ones I didn't care for, but I wish there had been more consistency.
