Destroyer Angel by Nevada Barr

Poor Anna: even on vacation she can't get a break from creeps! And she's unbelievably tough and pragmatic in this tale of tracking her friends and their kidnappers through the North Woods, dispatching the bad guys one by one while also scaring the bejeebers out of the remaining men. There's a lot of subtext here about rising to meet a challenge and putting other people first, while is delightful, even if at the same time Anna is slaughtering people. That last part was a little disturbing. Her sense of humor--and her interaction with a dog, a theme this week apparently--makes the whole thing go down easy.
