Review: The Shining Girls
The Shining Girls by Lauren Beukes
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
This was a very disturbing book, and I wish I could say that the payoff is worth it, but there were sure a lot of strings left untied and oddly confusing.
So, a serial killer is on the loose in Chicago, someone who has been killing women for 70 years, except...not really, it seems to be sort of more like just about a year, which is weird. To say the least. One of his victims survives and she eventually figures out how he's able to commit these crimes. Interesting characters, including the city of Chicago, but the plot was just a little too odd to make the book recommendable.
