Review: Bad Days in History: A Gleefully Grim Chronicle of Misfortune, Mayhem, and Misery for Every Day of the Year

Bad Days in History: A Gleefully Grim Chronicle of Misfortune, Mayhem, and Misery for Every Day of the Year Bad Days in History: A Gleefully Grim Chronicle of Misfortune, Mayhem, and Misery for Every Day of the Year by Michael Farquhar
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

It sounds miserable, doesn't it? But it's actually amusing and sad and silly and snarky: one entry of humanity's worst behavior for each day of the year. Often it's not what you'd expect--for instance, the entry for November 22 only glancingly mentions JFK's assassination. And I was surprised to find that there are a few days over the course of the year on which nothing much seems to have happened at all. For trivia buffs and history nerds, and people who like their humor a little on the dark side.
