The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck

I made it about 75% through this book and then just had to stop. If it were two books--one about the land and so forth, and the other with the plot, I'd've been more able to handle it, but I just could not handle the incessant back-and-forth between the two lines. And then there was the whole Bad Things Are Coming part... I just couldn't stand the thought of listening to more.
But the narrator was splendid, and I loved the harmonica breaks between chapters.
