Review: Asylum
Asylum by Madeleine Roux
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Holy weirdness, Batman! I started reading this before bed and quickly realized that was a bad idea; it's creepy and paranoia-inducing. Good and scary, and while it's sort of tied up at the end, there's clearly room for sequels. It takes place on a college campus that has taken over the site of a former asylum (which, to be honest, WHY?!). The kids that are there are gifted high school kids at a summer camp (so, again, WHY?!) and creepy things start happening that seem to be based on the history of the dormitory in which they're staying; their rooms are the former patient cells.
Funniest part for me is that the campus is based on Beloit College. The author apologizes for that. ;-)
