Merciless by Lori G. Armstrong

Set in South Dakota, second (?) in a series. Lots of references back to the first (?) book that made me crazy to read it. But the ending was far too rushed and kind of obvious. Still, Mercy Gunderson is an interesting character. May have to find the others in the series.
