Yes, I've read this recently in print, but I wanted to see how it held up aurally. Quite well, I'm happy to report. I just love these books; Fforde is having such a good time with the whole thing. The plot is weird and yet strangely down-to-earth (the boy with his head stuck in a saucepan toward the end is funny and yet very poignant), characters are comfortable old friends (Hamlet anyone?) while being absolutely original (the wife of a good friend is a gorilla?), and the story somehow hangs together in spite of millions of loose ends.
Sure wish Fforde would get back to this series and leave the other one he's been working on. This one is much more entertaining.
