This was such a good read that I actually stopped reading it for a week with just a couple of chapters to go because I didn't want anything bad to happen to the characters and I didn't want the book to end.
Not the usual dystopian futurist, though it shares some of the usual tropes. But it doesn't dwell on the end of the rest of the world, but more on the day-to-day realities of just getting along. The only reason I'm dinging it is for just stopping. It doesn't end so much as stop.
