Which Brings Me to You : A Novel in Confessions, by Steve Almond and Julianna Baggott

I came across this book while cataloging it and read (well, skimmed really) the first chapter. What an eerie feeling to read something and feel like you know this person; she is your friend.... So I emailed said friend and suggested she take a look at the book to see if I was dissociating insanely.

I wasn't. It's about her. In novel format, of course. Very freaky.

So here's the setup: John and Jane meet at a wedding. They fall into the coatroom and start doing what has always come naturally to "people like them"...until John stops. He suggests that rather than repeating their histories, they go home and write real letters to one another, confessing all of their former sins to one another.

So they do. And it's fascinating. And scary. And very real. There are times when the reader really can't stand them; at various moments they are each pompous, delusional, hysterically funny and bombastically sad. But you can't help cheering them on.

Good book, and a quick read.
