I was looking for something to listen to in the car when Sparky's around, something without any "inappropriate" stuff. I came across this and it seemed like a possibility.
Now, unfortunately, I feel the need to read the rest of the Discworld series! Rats.
This is a Christmas story. OK, Santa is called the Hogfather. The sleigh is pulled by giant ...uhm ... hogs. And that's the normal bit. Someone is trying to kill the Hogfather, so Death steps in with the help of his assistant Albert (emphatically not elf-like) and delivers all the toys to the kiddies. Death's granddaughter, meanwhile, has to go rescue the Tooth Fairy who is under attack as well. And the wizarding college is busy trying to explain why all these new creatures keep showing up: the Cheerful Fairy and the OH-God of Hangovers, for instance.
It's quite convoluted, but funny. FUNNY! There is a lot presented here to think over, but it's done in such a way as to be amusing and painless. I kind of think I'm crushing a little on Death, actually.
