I'd read this one before, although I have no record of it in my files. But the story was extremely familiar and I had a sense of who the 'bad guy' was from the first moment the character was described. I just couldn't remember the "why" part.

The one thing I've realized, having reread the book, is that I'd really like to see Mont St. Michel. This takes place nearby, and the murder is done by high tide there. Of course, at first everyone assumes it was a mistake, but then the old bones of the title are found in the cellar. They date back to World War II and the Maquis and the German occupation of France. Soon, there is confusion everywhere, and lots of secrets to stumble over.
