Winner of the longest subtitle of the year award (so far):
Low Care, No Care, Tried and True Winners from the Midwest to the NortheastI’ve only had this checked out for 5 months.... The perks of working in a library. It’s shameful, really.
Anyway, this is a decent book on what kinds of things grow in ‘difficult’ climates. The author delves a lot into planting and seeding and not so much into height and spacing, but that’s ok. I’ve charted a list to start with next year. Maybe by then our roc...er, garden will be well-enough established that we can actually grow something besides dandelions and lilac bushes Not that I’m knocking the lilacs! Not at all--I love the lilacs. But my rose bushes are pretty lame and our arbor vitae keep dying off. Plus, we’ve got some kind of fungus on the mulch...
Anyway. Gardening, in theory, is fun. I just don’t like the ‘crawling around on all fours’ part of it much.
The book contains a section on annuals (which I skipped) and another on perennials. It also has tips on butterfly gardens and attracting birds, not to mention wildflower gardens. My favorite page: Dandelions as a garden plant. How to annoy ALL your neighbors!
Still, I've always actually liked dandelions, so it warmed my heart a bit to know I'm not the only one who doesn't hate them.
