The next installment of Alan Gregory's life. This finds him continuing to deal with his wife's MS, along with 2 dogs and a baby girl. And, as usual, his friend Sam (who has always reminded me of a nice Pete Marino); he is having health and marriage problems in a really huge way.
But of course the meat of the story is about Gregory's patients. The star this time is a woman named Gibbs (first name) who comes to him with the story of her husband's murderous affairs all across the country. She is vague on numbers, but concrete on the details she definitely feels like sharing. Eventually Sam drives all over the country tracking down Gibbs' husband...and finds the unexpected.
Well, it was unexpected to him, but not to us, er, me. I suspect anyone who was not (as Diane expresses it) an uber--popular alpha bitch in high school would get where this is going as soon as Gibbs shows up. I love that term, by the way.
There is also an interesting cross-plot about his office being bugged, and then having tipsters call in the juicy bits of his practice to the police and DA's office.
All in all, very satisfactory. Doesn't hurt that he mentions Ouray...in passing.
