The Black Box by Michael Connelly
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Harry gets to work on a case from the week of the L.A. Riots in 1992 twenty years afterwards. The case involves a Danish reporter found murdered in an alley near the center of the riots. Because of the chaos, the case was never really given a lot of attention, but Harry picks it up and starts following the gun. Not a pleasant story, and I was ready to pooh-pooh it, but I actually found myself a little weepy at the end when Harry phones the victim's brother.
