Hemingway Didn't Say That: The Truth Behind Familiar Quotations by Garson O'Toole
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Well, this was interesting. I've been aware of the website that the book's author runs, and this was sort of the Best Of... from there. Lots of detailed research into who actually said some of the things we attribute rather wildly to random people. The vast majority of these attributions, at least those quotes discussed in the book, are wrong. Often REALLY wrong, but sometimes there is at least a tenuous link to reality.
Fun. Probably a bit boring if you're not into reading about research.
