The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Fascinating. Way more fun than I had expected, and just as a good as I've always heard. Not to be read without a dictionary and a Latin translator handy, however, as well as a theological reference source. Lots of stuff going on here, and at times v e r y slowly. I loved the mystery aspect, of course, but also the theological narrations and the interpersonal plays between characters both on and off stage.
Now I'll need to read it again, because I feel like I spent a lot of time translating and not a lot of time reading for fun. What is this book really about? I'm not sure, but I know whodunnit. ;-)
