Review: Stuff Matters: Exploring the Marvelous Materials That Shape Our Man-Made World
Stuff Matters: Exploring the Marvelous Materials That Shape Our Man-Made World by Mark Miodownik
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Kind of an interesting concept: the author took a picture of himself and then explored individual items in the photo--porcelain (coffee cup), for instance--and how it came to exist and the subatomic reason it works the way it does. Pretty interesting. Materials science doesn't sound particularly fun, but somehow this books makes it interesting. Quite a feat!
